Tim Wintersohl (1979)
took his first flute lessons at the age of seven at the music school in Leverkusen, Germany.
In 1998 he started studying at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, The
Netherlands, with Rien de Reede and Thies Roorda, graduating with the master of
music degree in 2006. He also studied orchestral playing with Emily Beynon and
Eline van Esch. In 2001-2002 he studied at The Studio of Trevor Wye in Hastingleigh, England. He had lessons and master classes
with William Bennet, Jeanne Baxtresser, Peter-Lukas Graf, Felix Renggli,
Wilbert Hazelzet, Leone Buyse, Patricia Morris, Robert Dick and Paul Edmund
Davies.
Tim Wintersohl has played in a large number of orchestras, including the
Sinfonieorchester Münster, Philharmonie Südwestfalen,
North Netherlands
Symphony Orchestra, Limburg Symphony Orchestra, Brabant Orchestra, Dutch Promenade
Orchestra, Musica Ducis brabantiae and Dutch Orchestra and Ensemble Academy. In addition, he has done solo performances with Nederlandse
Strijkersgilde and Kasinoorchester Leverkusen.
In 2008 he won a second prize at the Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Verona, Italy,
for his performances of the concerto KV 313 by Mozart and the concerto by
Ibert.
As a chamber musician and soloist Tim Wintersohl has performed at The
International Holland Music Sessions, Holland Festival, North Sea Jazz
Festival, De Suite Muziekweek, Orlando Festival and the Steve Reich Festival.
Since 2006 he is a member of the Amsterdam Wind Quintet.
Tim Wintersohl is keenly interested in contemporary music. Besides several
performances at the IJsbreker in Amsterdam
he has played world premieres of works by composers such as Martijn Padding,
Jeppe Moulijn and Chen Wagner. He has also worked with Steve
Reich and Thomas Adès.
