The
Amsterdam Wind Quintet is an ensemble with a strong, unique personality.
The five
musicians are committed to playing quality music while at the same time presenting
surprising programs with refreshing and unconventional performances.
To this end,
the Amsterdam Wind Quintet each season creates new programs that feature famous works for wind quintets as well as interesting
arrangements of both classical and contemporary music.
During
performances, the individual quintet members sometimes play solos, duets or
trios. In combination with the diverse and interesting programming and the
unique qualities of each musician, this makes each concert of the Amsterdam
Wind Quintet an unforgettable event!
Besides teaching
and playing in the Amsterdam Wind Quintet, all five members are active
orchestra musicians. They have performed with many well-known orchestras,
including the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Marine Band of the
Royal Netherlands Navy, the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symfonia, the
North Netherlands Orchestra, and the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra.
In addition
to playing regular concert programs, the Amsterdam Wind Quintet has cooperated
in many theatre shows and has played several (live) radio broadcasts.
A highlight
in the history of the Amsterdam Wind Quintet was its performance for Queen
Beatrix of the Netherlands
in 2007.
